The finish of the Traditional Clean is a model of its kind. Here, no compromise has been made, and it is especially on the inside that it shows (in addition to having a very beautiful exterior dress, it is beautiful on the inside). All components, without exception, have extremely low tolerance thresholds. They are of Military rank. Each component is selected, each head fully wired by hand, tested by ear and played by the entire team before shipment. The Traditional Clean is one of the most beautiful models of the Californian brand and it shows. The head approaches a quality black tolex, a front panel in varnished aluminum +5mm thick and takes up the classic aesthetics of the brand. On the front, there are people: A classic EQ, Treble, Middle, Bass, Gain, Master, Send / Return (Reverb) and a Presence button that allows you to act on the top of the spectrum and add detail in the top. There are also mini switches that allow you to boost or not each range of the EQ.
The Traditional Clean is a real tool to sculpt the sound. It benefits from almost limitless combinations and nuances for a clean channel, if you take the trouble to spend a little time on it to find YOUR sound. We have rarely seen so much flexibility and versatility on a clean channel.
The back side is simple. There are 4, 8, 16 ohm outputs, an effects loop and a switch to switch the head to 50W mode.
So how do you tell? The Traditional Clean is a kind of super-Studio Pro, with more dynamics, more harmonics, more headroom, better reverb and... a response to wake up the dead ;) Take the heaviest of Studios Pro, add more of everything, you have the Traditional! Where the Classic Reverb is more "straight" and oriented towards sounds close to very bluesy light "break up", the Traditional is pure, simple but complex. It is the soft, round and very "fat" version of the typical Two-Rock clean platform.
Want to get the most out of this amp? Only one thing to do, take your best Stratocaster and plug it in, because yes, dear guitarists, the Traditional is a Strat amp! Fans of the Mayer sound and big cleans that take up a lot of space, this is what you need. Of course, a 335 sounds great in this amp and you'll never hear a Les Paul sound as "fat" as it does in the Traditional Clean.
All settings at 12:00, presence at 3:00, look no further, it's Continuum. Push the Gain, activate the treble boost and increase the presence, we attack the territory of Matt Schofield (without the drive of course). Each note is of a dynamic to shake the walls, perfectly detached, rich and enveloping. We really have a sensation of energy diffused by the attack of your totally unique right hand. The basses are very enveloping and at the same time ultra precise, the very dense and musical mids allow you to pass through the mix without any worries, and the top of the spectrum overflows with headroom, bringing a unique complexity to each note. Similarly, thanks to its abundant headroom, the Traditional magnifies each of your pedals by making the effect more complex, more natural, tending to make the barrier between natural amp drive and typical "pedal" drive, much more anecdotal than as usual.
The Traditional Clean is for us, at present, the best in "pedal friendly" platform, this one benefiting from an ultra flexibility, with clear sounds and incredible dynamics. We are really on the extraordinary that it is very difficult to describe in words, so much we are talking here about small details that make all the difference and that only the musician who plays this amp can feel. This new slap from Two-Rock not only makes you sound better, but it motivates you to play better and take the instrument, as what comes out of it is "above" what you will find elsewhere.
An exceptional amp that will not be within everyone's reach, but which will allow you to access a reference of its kind, which you will surely never have to replace.
