The Sugi DS496 is THE flagship model of the prestigious Japanese brand. Ultra versatile guitar, it benefits from the impressive manufacturing quality offered by Nick Sugimoto and his team.
This custom order model, unique in the world, is entirely handmade in the brand's workshop. It represents the pinnacle of what Sugi can produce from the exceptional attention to detail it benefits from and the incredible selection of essences used to make this exceptional piece. Here, no digital machine, no chain stains. The handle is sculpted with a gouge and a plane, the body manually trimmed, everything is done in the traditional way with perfect mastery. The Sugi DS496 is a 100% handmade guitar. A very special note for the hooping which is of insolent perfection.
This DS496 Custom Order model benefits from a unique selection of species. It is built around a semi-hollow Honduran mahogany body with a Burl maple top selected by us. The neck is made from one piece of Aqua Timber maple cut over 200 years ago and submerged for over 75 years. This exceptional piece provides superior stability and unique acoustic qualities while being durable. The neck has a Gabon ebony fingerboard with a rare density. Equipped with Sugi Original LH-35 pickups, it is also equipped with Gotoh hardware and a Gotoh VG300 vibrato. This unique example, customized by us, has a custom color " Mountain Stream Blue " finish.
