With this superb Stratocaster-like, MB Guitars offers us a breathtaking replica of the original '60 to '62 models.
This custom order model is entirely handcrafted by Mike Bowes. Here, no digital machines, the processes are identical to those of the time with manual work pushed to the maximum.
In terms of wood species used, they are ultra-selected to make perfect replicas. Weight, appearance, drying, nothing is left to chance. The Indian rosewood fingerboards (250 years old) are treated to achieve the same look as the original Rio rosewood. This is so mistaken.
The cellulosic finishes are extremely crafted for maximum finesse and a feel and look totally similar to vintage models.
As far as attention to detail goes, this one is simply out of the ordinary.
- Fixing plate identical to vintage models from the 60s
- Hand-dressed frets, slots cut with a hand saw
- Hardware and buttons reproduced to perfection. Even the screws and holes made in the pickguards are identical to those from the period.
- Pickguards made entirely by hand, as in the era, with discoloration and deformation
- RadioShop microphones restoring all the nuances of playing to perfection. Mellow, twang and warmth are there with this characteristic "bloomy" attack and a precise bridge pickup, without being aggressive.
Mike Bowes' guitars are true "counterfeiter" guitars. All the magic of the guitars of the time is present in his creations. The sound, the playing sensations, the look. It feels like it!
