Based on John D'Angelico's original design, the Excel EXL-1 is his modern re-interpretation, brought up to date. Faithful to the original, this superb archtop offers top-notch appointments and retains the sound signature of the model of yesteryear.
Staying true to the original, the D'Angelico EXCEL EXL-1 features hollow-body construction with a spruce top and flame maple back and sides. Its 17'' wide and 3'' thick body gives it a full sound, with generous bass and subdued treble. The maple and walnut neck, with a pau ferro fingerboard, gives it a clean attack and a smooth touch. The floating Seymour Duncan Johnny Smith pickup offers dynamic attack as well as a balanced spectrum.
As comfortable with the fingers as with the pick, its unique voice will accompany you in many situations. Its aesthetics - art deco - and its neat finish make it an excellent Jazz guitar with a timeless aesthetic. Delivered in a quality hard case.
